BBC 6 Music Festival was held at the Barrowland Ballroom and the O2 Academy Glasgow and promoters, DF Concerts, required a high quality, reliable Glasgow PA hire company for the event.
As well as the right equipment and engineers, careful preparation and flawless communication with the BBC Outside Broadcast Truck engineers and the band's representatives is key to the success of this event. So the organisers required a PA hire company that had experience working on these fast paced live events.
Following on from the success of BBC 6 Music festival in 2016, where Adlib provided audio for all 6 stages in Bristol alongside regularly supplying PA and Lighting hire for Radio 1 XTRA Live and the BBC Radio 1 Stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals, Adlib were contracted to provide PA hire for the Barrowland Ballroom and the O2 Academy Glasgow for the duration of the 3 Day Festival.
Most of the work involved in this event is in the weeks leading up to the load in when all of the band's stage plans, input lists and additional specific requirements are compiled and integrated into the sound system design. This meticulous forward planning is the key a successful event and the smooth running of each day.
Adlib's Mario Leal gathered, co-ordinated and distributed all of the information to the BBC, band engineers and Adlib team.
Each stage required a rider-friendly sound system. FOH sound systems comprised L-Acoustics KARA, K2, ARCS and SB28 speakers with Adlib's own MP4 wedges on monitor duty. Avid Venue and Yamaha PM5D mixing consoles were provided at monitor and FOH positions.
Graham Cochrane and Craig Hamilton who have long-established relationships with DF Concerts were both involved in the success of this event.
An additional attraction for the client was that Adlib now have a warehouse in Glasgow from where we can offer 24 hour on-site support. All of the equipment for both venues was prepared and loaded in Glasgow and backup equipment to cover any last minute requests was only a few miles away if required.
