Mersey Gateway Bridge Opening

The Requirement

The new Mersey Gateway bridge linking Runcorn to Widnes opened on Saturday 14th October 2017.

Adlib was called upon to provide the sound system for the opening of the bridge including audio for the fireworks, music, and announcements – all controlled from one location and in total sync across the river.

The Solution

On the Widnes side, Adlib supplied a sound system comprising 8 x L-Acoustics K2 Loudspeakers and 6 x KS28 subs with 2 positions of L-Acoustics Kara with SB18 subs for delays to ensure even coverage of the large area.

The system on the Runcorn side comprised 4 stacks of Adlib FD3 Mid-High speakers with 4 x AA215HL Subs.

The two sites were linked with a 1Kw Sennheiser RF link that ensured synchronised sound across the river.
